Thames Barge off of Brightlingsea - July 2005

BACSPA is a an Association of more than 30 clubs formed with the objective of protecting sailing, and boating interests generally, on the Colne and Blackwater river estuaries in the United Kingdom.

The Association provides a forum for all Royal Yachting Association (RYA) affiliated clubs in the area to develop policies to promote and safeguard their sport, and whilst this is mainly sailing we also have a number of motor boat and water ski clubs as members. In addition there are three sailing trusts as members who have local shore bases.

Typical concerns being addressed currently include the development of wind farms, new planning applications and environmental issues that potentially affect sailing and boating interests in the region. Association members can use BACSPA as a line of communication to the RYA Eastern Regional committee and hence to the National Council.
